Swedish House Mafia.
One of the biggest things that happened to electronic dance music in the 00s.
Sad, but happy too. My ex and I were both fans of the Swedish House Mafia and I can equate this trio break-up as the last chapter of my “moving on” :)
Thanks for all the memories SHM! And to all the people around me when we were all recent fans of their music. Only good memories, only good vibes - keep dancing and don’t stop feeling it!
Not my scene, not your scene. Dance music is ours!

My NY rave family <3
Yesterday was so awesome. Good vibrations all the way. Maybe because I’m in a better state now compared to my dark days in Vegas. LOL

Butchered my room today. Painted it red, and it was a horrible paint job (got a d in art in 6th grade). So I went crazy and turned it into draculas room. Now if you get too drunk and sleepover and you’re having a nightmare, you’ll wake up to another nightmare.

There are a lot of things that make me human. With various encounters, I am constantly reminded of that.

Homo tendencies too. Approve!

My iTunes wasn’t blessed with an abundance of good songs this year. I had so much going on with my life that I forgot to pay attention.
TOP 20
Levels - Avicii The year of the Avicii. Didn’t that catchy use of Etta James voice from “Something’s Got A Hold On Me” get stuck in your head. It never got annoying too! Pleasure? pleasure! pleasure?!
The Wilhelm Scream - James Blake The most innovate artist I discovered this year. I’d describe his music as an orgy of dubstep, soul, chill, and experimental.
Holocene - Bon Iver This is one beautiful record, but I don’t think I can listen to it in the near future. This was the soundtrack of my life when I was going downhill in Vegas. Maybe in the future, when I can pleasurably emote to it.
Midnight City - M83
Okay i’m FUCKIN lazy and it’s not like you’re going to read all this nonsense anyway here is 5 to 20 in no particular order.
Wildfire - Sbtrkt
Rolling In The Deep - Adele
Shake it Out - Florence + The Machines
No Beef - Afrojack & Steve Aoki
Sun & Moon - Above & Beyond
Save The World - Swedish House Mafia
Feel So Close - Calvin Harris (So special mmm)
The Morning - The Weeknd (I don’t listen to hip-hop but this will penetrate your body)
Pressure - Starkillers & Alesso
Titanium - David Guetta (I am a seeeeeell outtttt i mean, titanium)
Pumped-up Kicks - Foster The People
Sexy & I Know It - LMFAO
Promises - Nero
Superbass - Nicki Minaj (LOL)
In The Air - Morgan Page
Eyes - Kaskade
Where’s Skrillex you ask? I have duct tape in my hand.
It was the year of dubstep (not really thrilled about that)
It was the year of Moombahton emerging
It was the year when top 40 was heavily influenced by electronic dance music
Drop by my ask if you have violent reactions!

5/7 of my Family
Attended a wedding two days ago. I heard Royksopp, Le Fleur, and The Knife at the reception so we know someone had good taste there.
After the wedding, I removed my tie and coat and pulled an all-nighter. A good friend from AZ was visiting and it was Jesse’s birthday - you know what that means!!!
There were a lot of freaks at Artisan and everything is still vibrating right now.

Plastic watches.

I’ve been wearing the plastic casio watch I got in Japan for almost 3 years. When my mom first saw it, she asked me if I got it from a cereal box. It looks disposable but it’s actually the only watch that lasted me this long. At the American Apparel flea market sale in Vegas I was able to get two more watches with the same appeal - plastic, toy-ish, ridiculous, and cheap. I am very much in love with them and I am going to start collecting toy watches from now on. They have such a retro appeal.

Whether I am wearing one of these or a Rolex, or a Panerai - I am going to be late anyway… Sooo I think it is better to have fun making people scratch their heads as to why I sport ridiculous watches than to settle with an expensive one (I am going to lose anyway).

w/ Sam @ Garage’s Anniversary , Republiq
It’s nice to see the swarm of local social owls having a good time last night. I think I like the social scene better here for two reasons; you spot a familiar face every few minutes and you get introduced to someone new every few minutes as well.
Also, I think it will only be this side of the planet where I would get the chance to buy a piece of clothing from someone and later on get introduced to its makers an hour later by another someone.
Everyone was beautiful and classy drinking wine.

My secret to life.
I woke up with an interesting thought worth sharing.
I’ve always been the type of person driven by emotions. I’m a slave to what I feel and I sometimes can’t seem to control it. It’s not really a nice thing because I tend to make actions/decisions during the peak of my sadness/fear/happiness.
This led to a more conscious effort in controlling them.
I realized that the pleasant-ness or un-pleasant-ness of your life is dependent on how you accept your feelings.
We hate being sad, yet we are thrilled whenever we go to the movies to watch dramas. We hate feeling sick, yet we consume drugs and alcohol only to get fucked up and… well, sick. We hate being scared, yet we are impatient in queue to ride the highest roller coasters at some theme park.
So, the next time negative emotions start to creep up - accept it… almost WANT it. “Feel it out” till it goes away slowly (because it always will). Don’t be destructive, feel it with grace, courage, and elegance. At the end, no matter how sad / lonely / scared you get, you will still be the winner.

Cosmopolitan Las Vegas.
Probably the most urban/chic hotel in Las Vegas. It has a lot of artworks, an electronic dance music club with superstar DJs headlining every week, a secret pizza place, and a floor in between the 1st and 2nd floors.
Robyn plays at the Cosmopolitan April 14 - that’s next week.
